Wonderful large scale painting of bridge and cityscape by Gregorio Gruber. Framed in floating wood frame and signed and dated on front.
Brazilian born Gruber appeared on the artistic scene in the late 70s as a draftsman and engraver which coincided with the return of figuration and painting. After joining FAAP ‘s College of Fine Arts in São Paulo, he traveled to Europe and attended several art courses in different cities such as Paris, London and Amsterdam.
In 1974, at the invitation of Pietro Maria Bardi, he returned to Brazil to hold his first individual exhibition at the Museum of Arts of São Paulo.
From then on, he participated in several biennials, exhibitions in museums and gallery exhibitions around the world. Among its main exhibitions are: XV São Paulo International Biennial, Paris Biennial, Modern Design in Brazil – SESI Art Gallery, Portraits and Self-Portraits in the Gilberto Chateaubriand Collection – MAM – RJ.
He won the prize for best engraving from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics and the Acquisition prize at the National Salon of Fine Arts.
In 1989 he started to create works in his studio in Barcelona where he expanded his technical resources, producing sculptures, mathematical paintings and scenographies.
He currently resides in São Paulo and Serra da Cantareira where he has maintained a studio since the 1980s, working with the most varied techniques, such as oil and acrylic painting, clay and wood sculpture, lithography, metal engraving and assemblages.
Gruber was born in 1951.
